Discover New Indiana Music This Record Store Day

Once again, vinyl enthusiasts will line up for the 10th annual Record Store Day. Indianapolis and the surrounding areas are fortunate to have some incredible independent stores offering to make this Saturday, April 22 a day to remember.

 

Musical Family Tree - G. C. Murphy Building, 1043 Virginia Ave #208, Indianapolis, IN 46203

Now with the Musical Family Tree headquartered in the Murphy Arts building, it’s no surprise that a big Record Store Day shindig would be thrown. Offering live music and Fountain Square Brewing Co. beer and of course a shop full of Indiana music. With a donation of $5, you get a random Indiana CD or with a $10 suggested donation, walk away with a random Indiana record.

Live sets are all ages and kick off at 6 p.m., lasting until 11 p.m. Enjoy music from:

9:15 p.m. - Sweet Poison Victim

10:15 p.m. - America Owns the Moon

 

Luna Music - 5202 N College Ave, Indianapolis, IN 46220

Another popular stop for vinyl hunters is Broad Ripple’s Luna Music. Like in year’s past, they’ve put together a block party soirée that also kicks off at 8 a.m., including free donuts (while they last) from Taylor’s Bakery for those waiting in line and SOBRO coffee to keep the masses warm. La Margarita will be on hand serving up their vegan & “meat-leaning” tacos, with Upland Brewery pouring their array of local crafts beers throughout the day.

Music kicks off at 10 a.m. with DJ Rusty Redenbacher and Mr. Kenetik setting the day’s vibe. Behind the store, the party will keep on rolling with hosts Oreo Jones and Sirius Blvck presenting an array of killer Indiana musicians. In between sets, DJ Action Jackson will keep the heads bobbing while shoppers pick out their favorite RSD exclusives and LUNA approved vinyl accessories.

Indy CD & Vinyl - 806 Broad Ripple Ave, Indianapolis, IN 46220

Indy CD & Vinyl has been a destination for Record Store Day for years, and they have planned a killer day for music fans. Opening at 8 a.m., people in line for all of the RSD exclusives can expect vendors selling coffee and donuts to make the wait more tolerable. Plus, Dogfish Head beer with the gang from Rock Lobster, Nacho Mama’s Food Truck and lots of giveaways.

Live music kicks off at 10 a.m. in the Klipsch Audio Live Music Tent behind the shop. The first two hours will be a family friendly set featuring music from Mr. Daniel, Shoobee Loo and The Wingman (featuring Vess Ruhtenberg).

More local bands hit the tent to fill the afternoon with music. Here’s the full lineup.

If you’re heading to Irvington, expect to see a great selection of Record Store Day exclusives (including some from the UK list) and killer live music curated by State Street Pub. Weather permitting, the music will be outdoors at nearby 10 Johnson Coffee

For those down south, head to Landlocked Music for all your Record Store Day goodness. In addition to great vinyl picks, they’ll have Rhino’s out front screening shirts for donations.

Those looking for some live entertainment will hear the music from local DJs and bands kicking off at 11:30 in the morning.

Village Green Records -  519 N Martin St, Muncie, IN 47303

If you’re in the Muncie area, Village Green Records will be opening at 10 a.m. with a wide selection of great new and used vinyl in addition to the Record Store Day exclusives. Music will begin in the afternoon, between 3 and 4 p.m. With the exception of Jim Jones, Jr, all of the acts are new to Village Green. Here’s their lineup for the day:

Square Cat Vinyl - 1054 Virginia Ave, Indianapolis, IN 46203

For their first Record Store Day, Fountain Square’s Square Cat Vinyl has scheduled a full day of musical goodness starting at 8 a.m. and continuing on until midnight. With plenty of exclusive releases in house, early birds shoppers will be able to get free coffee. Plus, Long’s Donuts will be available for purchase.

As always, Square Cat will be stocked with delicious coffee, beer and wine all day to make your shopping experience that much better. Get there in the morning to try their special Record Store Day mimosas. An official sponsor of RSD 2017, Dogfish Head will be on hand with special giveaways and promotions. When you get hungry, GOMEZ BBQ will be stationed near the music tent for delicious food.

Live music will kick off at 12 p.m. in the alley behind the shop and last until 10 p.m.
