Playlist: A Short Walk #111 - 12/20/2016
Posted December 20, 2016 by Taylor Peters

  1. "Exoskeleton Crunch" - Seton Hotel
  2. "Superinternational" - United States Three
  3. "The Wringer" - The Bears of Blue River
  4. "LANDR-Killa" - New Wave Collective
  5. "What Was I Thinking?" - James and the Drifters
  6. "Leaving Now" - It's Just Craig
  7. "Moving Melanie" - Gentleman Caller
  8. "Joseph K." - Hales Corner
  9. "Essence" - Jade TV
  10. "My Wild Life" - Mad Monk & Apache Dropout

It's a hold over from the long winter breaks of high school and even longer breaks of college I'm sure, but Christmas time always finds me wanting to re-sharpen my art making. It gets me wanting to spend more time every day trying to make songs or write things or finally get around to finishing something. As such I've got a Google Doc open in another tab now where I'm plotting the outline of an album I'm going to work on when I find time, and I just requested a new password on my Wordpress account. It's all happening (again).

Anyway, all of that makes it fitting that the first track here is from Seton Hotel. Seton Hotel was a band at my high school, made up of good buds. I always respected Seton Hotel because they seemed to have their shit about twice as together as me or any of the bands I was in during high school. And so I was always refocusing. Anyway, if you want to talk about tracks that hold up, peep that lovely little tune I've included up top called "Exoskeleton Crunch." It's DOPE.

Just two new songs in the playlist this week, one from James and the Drifters, who just upped a whole pile of their older work, and a live one from It's Just Craig. Otherwise it's a cozy trip through the archive with shining gems from Jade TV, Hales Corner, Apache Dropout, and more. Vibe with me.

Thanks, as ever, to Smallbox, for their continued support of these weekly playlists.
