Gosh. Gosh. Gosh. I'm a broken record and Musical Family Tree's archive is the deepest well I've ever gazed down. Probably all of you have already heard of The Master Tape, this punk comp put together all the way back in 1982 by Paul Mahern of The Zero Boys, but boy howdy I had not. I've been digging through this archive on the regular for almost two years now and yet, somehow, I missed the dang thing all this time. It doesn't matter. I've found it now. It's sick beyond all reason and I'm so happy that I get to drive around this summer with this thing playing through my aux cord.
Subject change: this Saturday I went over to Bent Rail Brewery for a minute to hit up MFT's lovely little Listen Local showcase, and I talked with some old friends and I saw some new bands and it was great. One of the bands I saw that I'd never had the pleasure of seeing before was Saint Aubin. They played a marvelous, focused little set that wedged in my memory so hard that I had to put them on the playlist today. Check them out if you haven't!
And as is always the case, the rest of the playlist has some favorites new and old. I'm pumped on this Mission of Burma cover I found from Arson Garden. I'm pumped on those new uploads from Kelly Pardekooper. I'm pumped on Davy Long's humble little lo-fi tunes. I'm pumped about a lot of things, reader. Join me, won't you?
Thanks, as ever, to Smallbox for helping to make these weekly playlists possible!
