Well, as I certainly hope you know at this point, this Wednesday marks the kick-off of this year's Fountain Square Music Festival. And what do you know, that very kick-off will be marked by a show at the White Rabbit that's presented by Musical Family Tree. And, shockingly (though honestly not really) that show will feature three MFT faves: Pravada, S.M. Wolf, and America Owns the moon. Well, that got me to thinking. Those three bands right there are the ground-floor fixings of a great Short Walk playlist, so why not just lean in to that and devote all (or most) of this week's playlist to the fest?
As you can see above, that is precisely what I did. Ranging from likes of Sirius Black to Bonesetters to Von Strantz, you can really plot out the wide range of styles represented through this year's festival. And if you haven't read it yet, be sure to check out our double Q&A with Adam Pedersen of Fountain Square Music Fest and Jon Rogers of MFT to get inside both of their heads on what makes local musical nonprofits tick.
The last track is a bit of a swerve from the festival, but not too far out of the bounds of the blog. Last week we ran a massive profile Bloomington's The Belgian Waffles! and then, not too long after, the band uploaded yet another new album called D'Loose and Guitarry (pun game: strong). The track that closes out the playlist above is from that, and it's a delight.
Help us spread Indiana music, and we'll give you special rewards as our way of saying "thanks!"
