This week, instead of repping shows, I'm rocking old-school short walk playlist style. There was such a notable influx of cool new stuff into the archive over the last week or so, that I couldn't resist packing tracks one through seven with noisey garage, towering rock, hip-hop, and future-tense anthems from Chieftan, Popular Ego, Pillars, and all. In particular, I'll be honest and say I'm very excited about this new track from Popular Ego. Ever since I caught them live at Indy CD & Vinyl last year, I've had a back of mind hankering for ever more of their certain something blend of catchiness. This one--it's called "Tavern Song"--delivers.
Tracks eight through ten rise up out of the old-school angle, too. Some of it's recent, some of it's older, all of it's slightly odd in a way that appeals to something in my middle. The closer "As I Washed the Feet" is "religious" in a way I can't pin down, which, being honest, is something I really appreciate. Too much religious music suffers under the weight of arriving fully pinned down if you ask me.
Keep your obsolete radio metaphorically tuned to this station. There's cool stuff coming on the blog this week, and there's always hot fire half a click away under the "What's New" heading.
Help us spread Indiana music, and we'll give you special rewards as our way of saying "thanks!"
