It's later in the week than usual and I'm feeling like mixing things up so I've only got two shows to rep, both of which are going down on Saturday (giving you and yours plenty of time for girding). First off, Bloomington's Unions will celebrate the release of their new LP Baby Let Your Heart Be Humble alongside The Regretters at The Blockhouse (which is also where the record was recorded) in Bloomington. "Decatur, IL" on the playlist is taken from the album, and you can preview another track over on their MFT page, linked above.
For the Indianapolis-bound, Saturday night finds GloryHole and State Street Pub teaming up for "Band Night" featuring Ampersand Blues Band, The Kaylie Ann Pickett Band, Benny and the 25th and College Ave Band, and Adam Kuhn.
The limited show recs this week are mostly the result of the huge and recent influx of good stuff in to the archive. Kaiton Slusher's always working with whacked electronics, and lately he's working under the name Special K & the 6-Step; don't let it slip by. Pasadena holds down folk while Bearbones sprinkle hints of the baroque into indie pop, before getting pumelled out of the way by the one/two hip-hop punch of Eastside X and The Comdot. Then things chill way out after that with the under-the-table soul stylings DXTRS Lab before the hottest Chives fire buzzes inward with looping psych fury that is only brought to a close by the inevitable force of Thunder/Dreamer's grimy country-inflected stomp.
Help us spread Indiana music, and we'll give you special rewards as our way of saying "thanks!"
