Lots of new stuff this week, all of it streaming into the archive like cold air through the parts of your old windows you couldn't quite get covered with that expensive plastic junk you picked up from the hardware store last week. Except in this case you don't end paying a higher utilities bill at the end of the month, you just end up bumping hot jams out your computer speakers, and, because, as we've established, your house isn't super well-insulated, your neighbors probably end up hearing it too: Spreading Indiana Music!
We've got a wide array this time, as ever: acoustic folk from Jeff Kelly, hot beats from Danny Suzukee, chiming dreamy indie pop from Dog Brother, and Teen Brigade's long-threatened hip-hop debut. If you want to go on a trip you know where my car's parked. It's right where you left it. We're friends and you were driving my car last night. Don't you remember?
The last four songs on this playlist were chosen very much on purpose and very much in the context of a show I'm about to tell you about that's happening tonight in Bloomington. It's Food For the Doog featuring, as you've likely already predicted, S.M. Wolf, The Cowboys, and Sleeping Bag. As you may or may not know, our boy Doog, a.k.a. the original Madman, is in the midst of a battle with brain cancer. A battle which, I'm sure you know, isn't cheap, and so, because Doog is certified-great, the folks at Backwash (where the show will be held tonight) have decided to put together this grand benefit show for him, and MFT is helping out with a little co-sponsorship. Solid decisions around! So go, donate, party, and live on as you will!
Tune in next week for another playlist just like this. It's so close to being a tradition I can almost taste it.
Help us spread Indiana music, and we'll give you special rewards as our way of saying "thanks!"
