Somebody said something one time about how many times you have to do a thing for it to become a habit but I didn't listen super close because what they were saying sounded like the pop psychology stuff Malcom Gladwell would use to pad the end of one of his essays for The New Yorker. This is, however, the second time I've made my weekly playlist for MFT, so no matter how real or fake that bit of science knowledge was or is or was grand scheme thought to be, I am one step closer to making a habit out of it and I'm using at least 10% of my brain to do it.
This week I'm positively flustered, hot and bothered, and feeling every-so-slightly more habitual because of how many artists on this playlist have recently put out albums. Back in September Sunset Architect put out Feigning Purpose from which "Ocher" comes; though her track here isn't on it, KO just put out an EP with Joyful Noise; Ryan M. Brewer put out his Trails LP recently enough that I can still see it in the rearview mirror; Bivienni dropped Everflowing Meditation this month; in addition to uploading a literaly metric ton of old stuff recently, Benjamin Masbaum put out the album My Nights on the Balcony this year from which his track comes; and finally, Rob Funkhouser's track is itself the entirety of his most recent release Crystalline which is out on his brand new label Wi-Fi Couch. Hang on a second, I'm feeling a little light-headed.
Ok. Breath caught. Let's talk about that A.M.O. track: it's the first in what will hopefully be a long series of new songs created Adam Gross and Ben Leslie's collaboration with MFT on an experiential muisc education project. This track is first on the mix because it is a through and through delight. You can read more about the track in Adam's post on the blog right here.
