No one would fault you for missing the first installment of MFT's new Music Video in a Day series when it premiered last week; we stay pretty busy with new projects around here, so things are bound to slip by our readers from time to time.
In any case, you should check out Music Video in a Day #1 whenever you get a chance, because it features some wild animation by Brain Twins set to the inimitable sounds of Chicago Bulls Hat, who might as well just be given the official title "Noise Governor of Indiana" at this point.
But now, get ready for something completely different for the second video in the series. The dudes at Running Bodies Productions, already responsible for some of the best hip hop music videos coming out of Naptown, decided to join the fun by making a Music Video in a Day for Indiana Chief's new banger, "All I Want Is Gold."
Although still relatively unknown beyond local underground hip hop circles, Indiana Chief (AKA "Big Chief Green" AKA "Chief") is poised and ready for more attention with his forthcoming album, The Golden Ratio, slated drop in September. Listen to a pair of tracks below via MFT's embeddable player.
"All I Want Is Gold" features a laid-back beat, wobbly auto-tuned verses by Chief, and a chorus by Chel$, who also plays a crucial role in the video. Those in the know about local hip hop will also spot a cameo appearance by Diop AKA Diopostle, whose Driving on Faith is definitely one of the best local albums of 2014, and you can check it out on MFT right here!
Also worth noting is the subtle narrative of greed, betrayal, and violence that is woven into the video. Making any kind of music video in a day would be a challenge, but working in some dramatic intrigue makes it even more impressive. Kudos to Running Bodies Productions - we're looking forward to seeing more from this talented crew in the near future.
Check out the video, subscribe to MFT Video and Running Bodies Productions on YouTube, and let us know what you think in the comments. Also, if you're interested in participating in the Music Video in a Day series, as a musician or filmmaker, please get in touch at info@musicalfamilytree.com.
