Wet Blankets is a purely Midwestern creation. In driving the 10 miles from your Mom's alpaca farm, to your new girlfriend's subdivision to shake hands with her old man, then 10 more miles to the mall movie theater, there's a lot of time to think. It’s a different kind of commute. And while we’ve got no beef with either coast, as a big percentage of today’s youngsters “from Brooklyn” can tell you, it’s not easy becoming an adult in the Midwest. Between thrilling and frustrating points of conflict with any number of proto-bible-thumping authority figures, to whom you owe a great debt and have a lot of respect, there are long stretches of boredom. Most of the kids around here, for better or worse, turn to things like basketball, or skateboarding, or music, or drugs to pass the time. These songs are the way Wet Blankets fill the space between those destinations and soundtrack the cornfield scenery while you contemplate your next move.
