Formed in the Hautian industrial wastelands around the intersection of US 41 and US 40, the trio known as Saucer 8 took all the best parts of 1980s college radio (Smiths, R.E.M., Husker Du) and added their own mutated-by-whatever- was-dumped-in-the-Wabash-River input over the course of their self-titled double-length debut, the Sophomore-but-still-strong Acid Bath, as well as a double-live compilation You're So Kind and the demos/live assortment Rarities. The departure of bassist/vocalist Chris Herner for Florida led to a Joy Division/New Order-esque name change with guitarist/vocalist Seth Scott and Erich Lewis playing in The Memphis Cutthroats.

Around 2000, Seth began cleaning up the original tape releases and transferring them to CDRs in his home studio a few miles down and off 41 in scenic Hymera. The then new fangled Internet allowed him to add Herner's always-present-in-concert-but-sadly-missed-on-the-studio recording of "Dee Ann" backing vocals on a best-of compilation, years after Saucer 8 blasted off to play "Elephantiger" to failed Vogon poets.
