Aunt Sally, do you need your ego scratched? I don't think lashing out will get that for you. There's probably a million other arguments you could have made about this project that would have been more valid. If everyone loves the music you're doing you're probably selling out. That's the perspective I got from engineering this project. There was very little ego scratching. Their wasn't enough time. Writing songs and making critical decisions within a deadline. furthermore, do you really think people who make music like this, that they know will not be popular, need a security blanket?

I would like to step back out onto the poo-covered stage, my dressing gown around my shoulders, barefoot, wig cap on, wig removed, blocking the light with the back of my hand, wag my finger Aunt Sally and say, "We're doing all kinds of unspeakable things with our egos."

I disliked this. I listened to the entire thing. There are a million arguments supporting the validity of making it, so I will forgo any explanation of why I think it sucks. But generally, I would be willing to say that this collection of music could only be born of, and promoted by, a culture where 'You scratch my ego and I'll scratch yours' is a golden rule and security blanket.
