They called the project Post Curtain Travesty because of the embarrassment of their last metal band and their love of the film ‘The Big Lebowski”. Taking influence from lo fi pioneers like Sebadoh, Guided by Voices, Slint and Elliot Smith they were afraid to formally release the EP because of it’s amateur aesthetic. Over the years, more and more people sought after the intimate yet raw recording and in 2010, the band decided to start anew. By September 2010, they had finished recording their first full band homemade EP with the help of Ross Polley and John Papaleo. Sam Van Tassel also contributed several quaint tenor sax parts. As a four piece, they then changed their name to 'Grotto' and began touring central Indiana for the fall and winter of that same year.
The 'Grotto EP' was finally released exclusively to MFT on November 15, 2010. It was recorded in various apartments in northern Bloomington, Indiana.
By January of 2011, the ‘band’ quickly but amicably dissolved. They recently reformed and will be releasing another EP in 2012.
