Think garage, but complex. Think soul, but relentless. If you've ever lost your shit to The Stones's "19th Nervous Breakdown," you'll be in good company spending an evening with The Founders. Now in glorious Technicolor, beamed straight into your hi-fi set!
The Founders banded together the summer of 2007, fronted by vocalist/guitarist/bassist/songwriter Nick, who entertains himself with garage rockers and psychedelic day-trippers.
Because there can be no rock without some heavy thumping sounds, punk fanatic Matt got roped in. The Founders used to employ a redhead guitarist who blew everybody's noses and minds, but then she had to quit and hand the guitar back to Nick. Then they found another curly-haired geek to match the frontman, so they decided to make the switch from Nick to metalhead Casey before anybody noticed.
And now it's a spinning, frothing machine that apocalyptically thumps buildings into submission and shatters the walls with the electricity.
Look out!
It's...
The Founders!

2011, Smokin' Kitten Productions,
So while we are combining everything, we are also just enjoying the epic minimalist outfit we have cultured. Children, if this don't get you moving, then I honestly don't know what will.

"There is no final justice. The only thing you can do is burn and burn and burn." -- FLCL, "Firestarter"
Retreating for the month of November 2010 to our trusty hideaway in the suburbs, we have constructed a fiery new testament. 13 tracks of utter passion, wit and power, all designed to make you dance and shout so you won't think about loneliness and feel sad and stuff.
- I Wanna Be Your Rat
- Get Out While You Can!
- Time it Takes its Time

So Kara came back to hang out with us [and have Nick record some demos for her] and we figured, why not, we have the equipment. Let's make the old trio sound like it was s'posda. You're welcome.
- Exile in Charon
- Caged Up

2010,
With time and a little experience come much improved results. This is the sound of practices, new songs, et cetera. Officially, these are demos. Word on the street is, these live demos kick the old recordings to the curb and sleep in their bed.

2009,
Though not a Founders album, it does contain two Founders tracks. This is actually the soundtrack to the Indy student film “Free Wall,” which was filmed in downtown Indianapolis.

2008, Middle Class Records,
The first Founders LP, Exile in Charon, was recorded in their drummer's living room through borrowed mics and a borrowed mixing board onto a free computer program over the course of a summer. Nick and studio engineer Alan Newman [of Wienerwald and Persistent Vision] pored over the dozen tracks until they were just right, or at least as right as they could be under the circumstances. They scrounged together $200 to pay for the studio time, which was given right back as a loan to have 100 copies pressed.
More could be said, but you're better off just listening to the songs.
