Bloomington-based band Chandelier Ballroom combines elements of surf rock, psychadelia, jazz and electro-pop to spawn a new brand of ambient, fever-rock. Onstage, Chandelier Ballroom's spell hypnotizes the audience; the beat putting them into an unshakable trance. Members Steven Laine, Sean Armie, Cameron Thompson and John "JC" Concannon take their influences from the Talking Heads, Stan Getz, The Pixies, The Flaming Lips, David Bowie, and Iggy Pop. Their new 7" EP, entitled Long Division, whisks the listener away to the shimmering crystal cavern in Carlsbad where the band takes its name. With songs ranging from woozy, liquid-cool grooves to igneous dance-rock, Long Division continues to morph and surprise from start to finish.
