About: | Bentframe was formed with Crawford, Leonard, Thaxton, Brannon, and Yablonowski doing some music with a Tascam cassette 8 track and a phono sampler. After doing stuff like an early version of the song Plump Chicken, Chris got a K2000 with the sampling feature and the beginnings of the Fresh Farm Demo were fleshed out. In the wake of Invisible Jet's demise the project took center stage. Shortfuse joined us in B-town from ... read more |

Tracks 1-3 recorded and mixed at Echo Park in the B Room by Paul Mahern Feb 22 and 23, 2003 Bloomington, IN to 2" tape and mixed to 1/2" tape. Some Other Way was recorded June 26, 2002 (ProTools).
Crawford - vox, guitar, and keys, Doyle - bass, Leonard - guitar, Macias - drums and percussion
This album was a compilation of sorts - it had 3 seperate recordings including 2 million, Some Other Way, and Killing You. These two were recorded in Chicago at Q Studios and Mastered/Remixed by Paul Mahern.
This was some sort of video game music era for BF?!
Macias on Drums - Crawford on vox and guitar - Doyle on bass - Leonard on guit and keys
Don't know how this slipped through the cracks - Paul Mahern recorded this at Echo Park - I think the B room and at the same time as Some Other Way.
Recorded and mixed at Echo Park with Paul Mahern. Will check the dates, but this is the first time going to EP with PM for BF. The monitors had Pop and Music taped to them (L and R) for inspiration thus the second title and the endless phrases with pop in them for the press kits. Features Paul and Courtney on vox at times and PM on Mellotron samples for Killing You. Wurlitzer by BL. ST on drums. ST and PM on purcussion. PM on Fronting ProTools chopping, mutes, etc. This is the second demo with AD - who did the artwork.
Also, thanks for the pre-production and production assistance and more Paul!
Chris Crawford - Vox and Bass. John Prugh - Vox. Scott - Drums. Brian - Guitar, 8 Track MD recording and attempting to make another crazy mix better. @1997-98 in the COE log cabin house.
Recorded in the Chicago Leavitt Coach House @2001. Remesstered from the stereo mix by Brian in 2011 because the original was reeeeeally bad - if only it was backed up properly. More useless info to come. The original art has to be somewhere...
Crawford on vox, lyrics, electric guitar, keys, vocal samples on WB, and outro of DS; Thaxton on drums, percussion and helping play and arrange Chris's DM pro sounds on DS; Leonard on bass, electric and acoustic guitar, keys and DS intro. Janell Cox sings on DS, 2004 and Fool - THANKS!
This was the first time using a computer to multi track drums and Cakewalk (8?) kept crashing, so we rented a Roland digital 8-track from Andy's Music and did the basics on that before finishing up in Acid (2.0? - which was very stable). Because of using a mixed down stereo track from the Roland and poor mixing skills, the mix was bad and really lacked guitar. We should have exported stems, but at least the vox were loud enough. These mixes attempt to tame the bass and drums and were ran thru 70's JBL/UREI transformers to smooth it out and warm it up a little. The only thing added to it trackwise was snare on Once cut from the drum intro to add reverb on the chorus, bridge and outro. You need headphones or spkrs with good low end, otherwise you won't hear the bass! See - I promised more useless info!
Done in Wicker Park @ June and July of 2001 in the Coach House. First Demo with AD on bass. Not the right cover, but who cares for now. Thaxton on drums, Chris on vox, B on guitars. Recorded by B and remixed from stems in 01/2011.
